Press Men In Nigeria Endorses National Indigenous Royal Award (NIRA)

The Royals To be Appreciated In Nigeria

NATIONAL INDIGENOUS ROYAL AWARD

It is of no doubt, that we practice a democratic system of government in Nigeria. But we should not fail to look back to our roots. The existence of this present day country-Nigeria, has a motherhood of dynasties which were monarched. These dynasties were ruled by Kings and according to how they are reverenced to in their regions; Igwe, Oba, Obi, Alaafin, Ooni, Sultan, Emir, Obong, Attah, TorTiv and the list goes on. These royalties as named cannot be denied as being the backbone of Nigeria's existence. It is not up for argument that they play a major role in the Nigerian unity even down to the Judicial administration. We cannot deflect the fact that they are the root of Justice. It is often taught that the laws of Nigeria are bought from the Received English Laws, Statutes of General Application, Common law, etc. But we should not forget that before the introduction of these alien judicial systems were our Royal fathers. They served as the barristers, and judges at the same time; they kept the balance in the communities, they settled disputes with their vast well of wisdom. They listened to litigants (as a lawyer will call them) and without asking for a dime, administer good justice to his people. It is in this regard and many more that we must honor the root of our Peace, we must honor the root of Justice, we must honor the Alma mater of wisdom, we must honor the originality of parenthood to all, we must honor our Royal fathers, We must honor the royals. Thank you.
